Our Story
Retro Imports was conceived, like many great ideas….. on the back of a napkin, after a few beers. This particular napkin was in a sunny Cape Town back garden with a Braai warming up in the background.
We take cars from a variety of sources across the world and move them in either direction! So we can also help with finding something specific for you if its not here for sale.
Cars are often a common ground that can make (or break!) early stages of friendships and in this case they brought two enthusiasts together with completely different backgrounds to a common talking point - we love owning cars - any size any shape and colour just… make them a little left field, with some character and maybe a story to tell.
The two of us of course have backgrounds in Automobiles, in the last 25+ years we count - Sales, Aftersales, Workshop, Journalism and an unhealthy habit of looking online for hours trying to unearth a gem in our automotive skillsets!
The most important aspect here is not really a skill, its just enthusiasm and curiosity to try something different, whether its a thundering V8 Mercedes or a quirky 1.3 VW runabout you will see from the sales section and the stock list: it doesn't have to be expensive to be interesting so we only have one rule (no credit taken for this phrase), life is too short to drive boring cars!
